RULES

The most recent update was published on: September 19, 2020 at 11:15AM EST. Rules may be clarified and tweaked as needed, please be sure to review any updates!

This KING OF THE HILL event will run as a Single Elimination tournament, with Best-of-3 matches. (The first player to win 2 game points will advance, the other will be eliminated.)

Don't wait to register - registration will close when the player registration cap is reached (or TWENTY FOUR (24) Hours before the event, whichever happens first!)

The event starts at 12noon EST.
Check-in for the event will open FOUR(4) HOURS before the event begins, here on Toornament.com (8:00 AM EST)
Check-in will close ONE (1) hour before, at 11:00 AM EST.

It is important that you double-check your time conversion to the local time for your timezone, so you do not miss this deadline!

VERY IMPORTANT : ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT, AFTER YOU CHECK IN BY 11AM EST ON TOORNAMENT.COM, ---ALSO--- JOIN THE #FG-PC-EVENT CHANNEL OF THE DISCORD AT LEAST 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE EVENT STARTS, OR YOU MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE! https://discord.gg/ukkxckk

Once you join the #fg-pc-event channel of the discord on the day of the event, it is also important to stay in that channel for the duration of the event, to make sure you do not miss any important instructions from the tournament staff.

Age: To be eligible to participate, a player must be at least 13 years old (or such other age, of greater, as may be required in such player’s country of residence.) Players between the ages of 13 and 17 (or such other age, if greater, as may be required in such player’s country of residence) must have written permission from a parent or legal guardian (a form will be provided which must be returned in order to complete processing your registration.) IF YOU ARE UNDER 18, PLEASE CONTACT TOURNAMENT STAFF AT LEAST 2 DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT TO HAVE THE REQUIRED PAPERWORK COMPLETED OR YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE.

Matches against your opponent will work as follows:

Each time you are paired against your next opponent, you should reach out the opponent on discord via DM to arrange sending them a Steam friend request, and then joining a party with them in game so you can play your match together.

TARDINESS: If your opponent appears to be non-responsive after 3 minutes, ping them AND the tournament staff via a post in the discord channel, alerting everyone that the opponent appears tardy. If your opponent does not respond/report in for the match within 5 minutes from the time of the first public ping, ping them AND the tournament staff again, and your opponent will be issued a game loss. If they still do not respond within another 5 minutes repeat this process, and they will be issued a match loss.

SCORING: The two of you both play in the show (with 58 other random players) until a round where at least one of the two players is eliminated. (the other 58 players do not matter, it is last-man-standing between only the 2 tournament players.) If one is eliminated, and the other player qualifies/was not eliminated in that round, the qualifying player should confirm with the opponent they are the winner/"Last Man Standing" for that game. The winner gets 1 game point, and both players should exit the show and queue for the next game of the match (if neither player has yet won the match/earned 2 game points.)

CROWN BONUS: If both players make it to the final round of the show, and one wins the crown, that player immediately wins the entire match! (If they have not yet won a game point for that match, the crown gives them 2 game points instead of 1.)

TIES: In the case of a tie (both fail to qualify during the same round);
If the match score is already 1-1: restart/play a new show.
Otherwise: Each player gets a game point!
(So if the match score was 1-0 before the tie, the player who won the first game would win the match 2-1 and advance.)

TIME LIMIT: A time limit of SIXTY(60) minutes per match round is imposed; if no player is able to win the match (2 game points) within the time limit, BOTH players are eliminated regardless of current match score. (Top 8 matches may be given extensions to time limit restrictions, solely at Tournament Staff's discretion.)

ROUND 1 DISCONNECTIONS: If you disconnect during initial matchmaking (can't get into round 1 of the show before it does the initial 3 second countdown) you should publicly ping/alert staff and your opponent on discord IMMEDIATELY, both players should communicate with each other what happened, and then the show should be restarted.

DISCONNECTIONS LATER IN THE SHOW: If a player disconnects during a show (after the first few seconds of Round 1,) it is the same as if they failed to qualify that round; the other player wins a game point for that match. (unless in special circumstances adjudicated differently, at the sole discretion of the Tournament Staff.) Optionally, if BOTH players mutually agree to set aside the disconnect and restart the show, they may do so at their own peril; EXTRA TIME WILL NOT BE GIVEN, so both players may end up being eliminated if they run out of time!

CHEATER/HACKER SPOTTED ROUND 1: If spotted during round 1, you should publicly ping/alert staff and your opponent on discord IMMEDIATELY, and both players should communicate with each other that a cheater was spotted BEFORE leaving the show, and the show may be restarted. Be SURE that BOTH players have agreed that a cheater was spotted before leaving the show!!! if you leave before reaching an agreement to restart (because of a cheater being spotted,) the remaining player might be awarded the game point.

CHEATER/HACKER SPOTTED LATER IN THE SHOW: If a cheater hacker is not spotted until later on in the show, DO NOT restart; play it out as best you can.

IF THERE ARE GENERAL CONNECTION PROBLEMS/INTERRUPTIONS OF THE GAME'S SERVERS, THE EVENT MAY BE SUSPENDED AND RESCHEDULED TO COMPLETE ON A FUTURE DATE.

Cheating of any kind will result in disqualification without prizes from the event, and being banned from all future events. If you are in a match where you believe your opponent cheated, please send any evidence you may have to the tournament staff. In addition to Hacking, "CHEATING" ALSO INCLUDES USING ANY BUG OR UNINTENDED EXPLOIT THAT EXISTS IN THE GAME, intentionally or unintentionally, such as qualifying even though you are outside the normal bounds of the course and should have been eliminated (floating for ANY reason, on top of a structure where you can never fall or be eliminated, etc.) If this happens to you, you should immediately alert your opponent and tournament staff and withdraw from the game/show as if you failed to qualify - if you don't, you will be deemed to have been Cheating, and you will be disqualified without prizing and banned from all future events.

OPTIONAL: We realize not every player can do this, so this is not mandatory: If you have the capability, live streaming and/or recording video of all of your matches is a good idea, to help eliminate any possibility of any dispute arising as to performance in a given match.

To assist with any screen shots taken for proof of outcome or other evidence for any reason, ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT, A SPECIFIC OUTFIT WILL BE ANNOUNCED AND EVERYONE COMPETING SHOULD WEAR THE DESIGNATED OUTFIT DURING TOURNAMENT MATCHES.

Sportsmanlike conduct is expected. You ARE allowed to take legal in-game actions that are part of the game to grief your opponent (grab, block, push, etc) to try to beat them, but you are NOT allowed to be disruptive or grief your opponent in Real Life, such as in any Discord or Twitch chat (or any other actions that could be considered unsportsmanlike conduct except for actions intended to be allowed within the game itself as part of normal game-play.) If you do, your actions may result in a game loss, match loss, or disqualification from the event without prizes, solely at the discretion of the Tournament Staff.

ALL DECISIONS BY THE TOURNAMENT ADMINISTRATOR OF THIS EVENT (SINOBII) ARE FINAL.

Select matches for this event will be streamed on one of our Official Twitch channels. Competitors playing in the event may live stream the event from their own POV as well (and are strongly encouraged to do so!) By registering for this event, you agree that we may live re-broadcast your live stream from our Twitch channel and Shout-cast any game-play during the course of the event, as well as create VODs of this Content which we may choose to make available on our official Youtube channels and other platforms, so others may marvel at your awesome plays (or epic fails; That's fun, too - it's Fall Guys!)
